At least Tammerfors looks like a real place name. “Swollen rapids”. Does “Tampere” even mean anything? It’s just a corruption of the original Swdish name. Note though that I’m not a hypocrite here, I want all originally Finnish place names in Sweden to be written in Finnish and not corrupted in some kind of Swedish spelling or form. For example, [*Tärendö*](https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C3%A4rend%C3%B6) and [Haparanda](https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haparanda) in Norrbotten should be written *Täräntö* and *Haaparanta* (OK, ‘raanta’ is an old loan word from Proto-Norse, ‘strandu’, but the place wasn’t originally named Aspstrand and then finnified).
