I was a tree planting checker working just up the road from here a bunch of years ago. As I drove up the road leading to one block the treeplanters had posted a sign saying “Cursed ye all who pass here” in black spraypaint on a scrap of plywood. It was a really ugly block – cow parsnip, alder, fireweed, etc. everywhere, and in many places the brush was much taller than us.
It’s part of the largest clearcut in the world… now well into being the largest tree plantation I guess.
