Living in Bude you would say that, it’s completely unconnected to anything else, I grew up there and left when I was 21, but my family have been there going back 5 generations, now in my mid 30’s and I have lived all over Cornwall and Devon. Can tell you from experience Bude is one of the most depressing towns to live in as you are completely isolated from anything else and the winters feel long, very long…but it is one of the most beautiful places in Cornwall, it took me a while to realise that but when I go back to visit my relatives I can really appreciate it now. However there is no way I would ever live there again, not unless I was retiring.
Oh and Devon is much bleaker, have you walked around on Dartmoor? It’s huge compared to Bodmin moor and they also have Exmoor and then try living in the outskirts of Plymouth through the winter or even Holsworthy just up the road from you, you’d kill to be back in Bude then.
