Excellent photograph. It is a beautiful place. Lots of variety in the hiking. Big expanses of lawn too for spreading out on a blanket or having a group party (and you aren’t right up on another group). New York State as a whole gets some crap about its beauty. Been lucky to see a lot of the US and the world, and comparatively, NY holds up. Check out places like the Adirondack Park, Chimney Bluffs (hike one way up high, the way back along the water), Taughannock Falls (and ten other spots in and around Ithaca). Since coming back to the Rochester area, I have found that the people who disparage it the most are the people who live here. People from away from here can appreciate it, locals can be a little hard on it. But that has an upside, when we go out to enjoy the parks (and outside as a whole), they aren’t super crowded. It can snow Tuesday afternoon and we can still make fresh tracks snowshoeing Wednesday am. Most people are at the mall or Applebee’s. Nice not to fight crowds to be outside.
