Hm…late June should be fine this year, because I don’t think Glacier did much better in the snow department than we did in the Cascades. My wife and I pretty much only do day hikes, so somebody else will have to tell you about backpacking in Glacier. Some of the nice shorter ones we did were the Highline Trail, Hidden Lake overlook (didn’t have time to continue down to the lake), Virginia Falls, and Red Rock Falls.
We didn’t get to do much of anything in Waterton, because a bunch of the places we wanted to go were only accessible by shuttle (parking lots closed for various reasons) and we were on a pretty tight schedule. If you can afford to take more time in Canada or don’t mind doing a long driving day just to see the sights, driving through [Kananskis Country](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kananaskis_Country) is gorgeous while having far fewer people than the better-known national parks.
