I live in Juneau and visited the caves this fall! They probably don’t take tours down there any more but this particular cave (albeit more open/melted than before) is still around and there are newer caves forming further up the edge. I literally just made an account to post more pictures after lurking for years but now I’m wondering if it’s bad form to do so…?
edit: Here are some more pictures.
[ariel view](http://i.imgur.com/xw8MI96.jpg) You can drive up to the visitor’s center at the bottom right. Ice caves are formed where the edges of the glacier meet the rock. The caves pictured in this post are off on the left side and you can hike around (2 hours), scale down the granite and find them. [Here’s](http://i.imgur.com/wpbsXOS.jpg) a look before the descent. [Scaling down](http://i.imgur.com/ZP5nbpJ.jpg). When you first reach the glacier, the ice under your feet is white and dirty. There is no way to prepare yourself. Suddenly, you round the bend and BAM. [Human for scale](http://i.imgur.com/4hkhE1O.jpg). [Wide shot](http://i.imgur.com/j5I6Uim.jpg).
